Especially maxed out at 4K. Yeah, I beefed up my PC quite a bit recently.
The new DLC also has a freaking fantastic menu track.
It’s also in Polish, since CD Projekt Red (and the Witcher novel series) is Polish.

I’ve not touched Witcher 3 for a little while so not completed the main game yet, would it mess anything up (such as storyline or gameplay) if I bought the new expansion for the performance benefits?

How are the DLC’s so far? I started a New Game + save thinking they weren’t level-specific, turns out all the quest requirements double on a NG+ account so now I have to play through the whole game again -_-

Haven’t gotten that far myself. Probably about 20 hours in, haven’t even gotten to Novigard yet.

Nah, the expansions only improve things (from what I can tell) and add all the additional quests and story.

The Witcher’s level-based XP system kind of complicates the question: the DLC’s stories are independent of the main game’s so you’re good there, but since the DLC is meant for late-game levels and not post-completion (I think the requirement is in the 30's) you could theoretically come out of the DLC’s with a significantly higher level than the rest of the main storyline’s quest maximums which means you wouldn’t receive hardly any XP from that point onward and all the enemies would be really easy to kill.
Also not sure what performance benefits you mean but if you’re talking about the newest patch you can download it w/o owning either DLC. It makes a huge (read: so much better) difference in the UI.

Oh wow yeah, you’ve got a ways to go then. I’m just about 70% of the way through the game (about 100hrs in) and am just now approaching the level requirements for the HoS quests. This game is
big
, man.
Also as a tip if you’re unaware: do all the quests within 5 levels of their requirements, otherwise the game only gives you like 10% of the XP you’d normally receive from completing them.

Not only will it look better, but it should run better. The core game suffered a
graphical downgrade
during development, and was subject to some
huge performance-related patches
after release.

Good to hear there are patches to improve it that don’t require the dlc

To be completely honest I haven’t noticed any graphical upgrades that are part of the patch, which seems to mostly feature gameplay and UI changes, and
the linked interview on the IGN page
seems to suggest the DLC area is the only one to feature those upgrades. I have yet to download Blood and Wine so I can’t confirm the base game doesn’t get any changes but that’s what it looks like unfortunately.

I don’t tend to watch IGN videos as they can be a bit zzzzzz so just read the article instead, I’ll get the dlc eventually but probably should go further in the main game first

Personally, I’d go for a GTX 1070 @ $350 or so. Nvidia cards are just kinda... better right now. (Though I can’t directly speak about this AMD card)

I put a 970 in a few months ago, so I was in that unlucky group. CPU is an i7-4790K, paired with 16GB of 1866 RAM.
I may get a 1070 or 1080, but I'll see how well I can run a Vive once I get one a few months from now.

yeah but its 350 vs 200.

It’s worth the extra 150 for a more stable, more powerful card. Just save for an extra few months. I had an AMD card before I got my 970 and it is cooler, quieter, and a lot more stable.

I did the same thing (really, 970TI & a 4790K in March)

I’d get a 1070 in the next few months, but I think I’ll just put that money towards a Vive instead. The 970 is probably plenty powerful for VR.
